What are example Microsoft 365 Copilot use cases?
A starting set drawn from quality, project delivery and knowledge workflows in industrial organizations. Each can begin as a small proof of concept and grow.
Mill certificate (MTR) validation agent
Reads each incoming mill test report, validates chemistry and mechanical properties against the required grade (for example ASTM A992 or CSA G40.21), files conforming certificates with heat-number traceability and alerts QC on any non-conforming property. Level 2. See also MTR Automation.
Welder qualification and NDT tracker
Holds welder qualifications and procedures, alerts before certifications expire and flags any weld record or report missing a matching qualified procedure. Level 2.
Document intake and routing agent
Reads each package arriving in a shared inbox, identifies the source and project, alerts the responsible engineer or coordinator and logs everything to a manager dashboard. Level 1–2.
RFI and submittal tracking
Classifies and routes RFIs and submittals to the right project and discipline, tracks status, flags overdue items and rolls everything up to a live dashboard. Level 2.
Meeting-to-action agent
Turns Teams meeting discussions into captured decisions and action items, assigns them in Planner and tracks them to closure. Level 1.
Project knowledge and risk Copilot
A conversational Copilot trained on lessons learned, risk registers and non-conformance history that answers what to watch for on a new job and alerts Quality when a recurring pattern appears. Level 2–3.
Project document Copilot
Office and field teams ask plain-language questions and get instant, sourced answers from specs, drawings, contracts and standards, without files leaving your environment. Level 2.
